Credit Check Money Market Counters in Shoprite and Checkers
Overview
The Shoprite Checkers brand is a massive retail brand on the African continent. The organisation continues to grow and provide customers with quality services in convenient ways. The Money Market has been active since 1998 and continues to expand its services. Shoprite has more reach among lower income groups compared to banking institutions in South Africa. With around 23.2 million shoppers, the group has access to an array of consumers – banked and unbanked. This essentially means that an increasing number or retailers is competing more with banks in term of providing financial services to lower income groups.
In partnership with Kudough, Shoprite has introduced another innovation that has made the lives of customers simpler. Through the Money Market at Shoprite Checkers outlets nationwide, customers are able to get a personal credit check.
How does this work?
Go to a Shoprite, Checkers or Checkers Hyper Money Market Counter.
Provide your valid SA ID, proof of residence and R79.00.
You will then be able to get a report on your current credit status, giving you the benefit of knowing what your credit ratings are.
Shoprite Checkers is registered with the Financial Services Board. This service is helpful for individuals who may not have access to the internet to check their status.
Kagiso Asset Management analyst Simon Andersen told Fin24: “Shoprite potentially offers the service to people who do not necessarily have the resources to check their credit status themselves.”
